Hypothesis
Tradition of local democracy will be positively associated with favorable attitudes towards democracy at the national level (86).
Note
Results become significant at 10% but not 5% level when controlling for level of political hierarchy. For both tests, the researchers controlled for proportion of population with European ancestry, proportion of cultivable ancestral land, and average year of observation and data collection. Dependent variables measured with data from the World Values Survey (WVS).
