Centricity refers to the degree to which the transfers are patterned to focus on either an institution or an individual carrying out a society-wide role (centric transfers) or to focus on the relationship between distinct pairs of individuals who are not tied in their transactions to a societal-wide pattern (non-centric patterns) (34).
