Hypothesis
Polygyny and patrilaterality are predicted to be positively related to the net number of marriage transactions of brides and their parents and negatively related to the net number of marriage transactions of grooms and their parents (363).
Note
Two separate tests were done, one to test the significance of polygyny and one to test the significance of patrilaterality. The correlation between polygyny and net transactions for brides is not statistically significant, however there is a positive correlation between percentage of polygynously married men and net number of marriage transactions of the brides’ parents, as well as a negative correlation between the percentage of polygynously married men and the net number of transactions for grooms and grooms’ parents. See table 12 on page 365 for a full list of the correlations.
Test Name | Support | Significance | Coefficient | Tail |
---|---|---|---|---|

Variable Name | Variable Type | OCM Term(s) |

Marriage Transactions, Net Gain In Resources, Brides' Side Or Grooms' Side | Dependent | Exchange Transactions |
