Hypothesis
"In cross-cousin relationship . . . joking is the most frequent mode of behavior. . . . Avoidance and respect are almost exclusively associated with prohibition on marriage and license is associated only with permitted marriage. . . . Joking behavior is found with both forms" (199, 201)
