Hypothesis
Excluding specialized hunting groups, societies that rely heavily on gathering will experience less frequent and drastic famine (39).
Note
A weakly significant negative correlation is found between recurrence of famine and reliance on gathering (p= .04) which suggests some tendency for gathering to reduce likelihood of recurrence.
