Hypothesis
"Political units with wider political participation engage in less warfare with one another than do less participatory political units" (579).
Note
All variables except checks on power were significant predictors of internal warfare. Data were tested on all societies, local-level polities only, and polities with multilocal authority. Results were significant in all cases.
