Hypothesis
Adolescents running away from difficult situations will be predicted by certain characteristics of adolescence (150).
Note
Boys running away was significantly associated with a high degree of separation from the family (r = -0.60), adolescents taking on new roles in the family (r = 0.92), and the community (r = 0.45), establishment of adult character in adolescence (r = 0.51), and later ending of adolescence (r = -0.49). Running away by girls was predicted by adolescence as a sharp break from childhood (r = 0.38), adolescents taking on new roles in the family (r =0.94), and the community (r = 0.71), and establishment of adult character in adolescence (r = 0.55).
