Resource problems will be associated with more war (243-244).

Measures of resource problems are: the threat of natural disasters in nonstate societies (rho = 0.71), the threat of famines in nonstate societies (rho = 0.39), and chronic scarcity in nonstate societies (rho = 0.35); only unpredictable disasters is related to warfare in the overall sample (249-250).
